Springfield
Springfield can be proud of its high school being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A driving force behind the endeavor to save and restore the high school was Sylvia Hiers, recipient of the Order of the Silver Crescent. Today the school is now a visitor’s welcome center, a community center and a museum with African American and Native American memorabilia. The school also houses the Orangeburg County Military Museum and a genealogy room.
Springfield is equally proud of its community spirit, represented in the Governor’s Frog Jumping Contest

The Springfield Flea Market better known as a significant venue for antiques, including antique jewelry, attracts visitors from well beyond the area. Much more than a flea market, well-known Craftspeople display and sell their handiwork there.
